Beyond the Latch
What makes a lactation consultant who is also an occupational therapist different — and why it matters for your family.
An Occupational Therapy Lens on Lactation
Occupational therapy is, by definition, a person-centered health profession that enables people across the lifespan to participate in meaningful daily activities. Julie's career as an occupational therapist has given her a vast array of experiences, from supporting the tiniest of babies in the NICU, to adults re-learning how to adapt to new physical and mental challenges.
While holding the gold standard lactation credentials (IBCLC), Julie's occupational therapy lens allows her to see beyond the latch. Experience with torticollis, sensory sensitivities, prematurity, along with other complexities, equip Julie with skills to support your baby as a whole. Julie's work with adults supports the parent side of the dyad, by incorporating a holistic perspective to include body mechanics, activity adaptation, neurodiversity and mental health.
